Summary:

The new Abby Abernathy is a good girl. She doesn’t drink or swear, and she has the appropriate percentage of cardigans in her wardrobe. Abby believes she has enough distance between her and the darkness of her past, but when she arrives at college with her best friend America, her path to a new beginning is quickly challenged by Eastern University’s Walking One-Night Stand.
Travis Maddox, lean,
cut, and covered in tattoos, is exactly what Abby needs—and wants—to avoid. He spends his nights winning money in a floating fight ring, and his days as the charming college co-ed. Intrigued by Abby’s resistance to his charms, Travis tricks her into his daily life with a simple bet. If he loses, he must remain abstinent for a month. If Abby loses, she must live in Travis’ apartment for the same amount of time. Either way, Travis has no idea that he has met his match.

Review:

PLOT:  Abby is the good girl. She meets Travis after attending one of his fights and gets roped into making a bet that she loses. She's stuck living with Travis and his cousin Shepley, who also happens to be her best friend America's boyfriend. Who would've though she and Travis would start falling for each other? The plot of this book is nothing you've never seen before.  Good girl meets bad guy.  Good girl falls for bad guy after trying her damndest not too.  The whole star crossed lovers thing ensues.  Like I said, nothing original.  It's not the plot that makes this book, it's the characters.  But let's be real.  I love a good love story, and if you're reading this review you probably love a good love story as well.  And let me tell you, this is one HELL of a love story!
CHARACTERS:  Like I said above, the characters make this story.  Abby's the good girl.  She seems perfect but she has her issues.  Travis is one giant issue.  They are both stubborn and jealous.  Together their relationship is a beatiful disaster.  They bring out the best in each other but they also bring out the worst in each other.  They have flaws and their relationship is far from perfect.  Their actions in the book speak volumes about their characters and said flaws.  On a side note there seems to be lots of criticsms about Abby and Travis' relationship issues.  Yes, Travis has a temper.  And yes, they both tend to follow their hearts and not their brains.  But let's face it, in relationships we don't always do what our brains tell us.  For me, this relationship was REAL.  Ups and downs, good times and bad.

This book was so addicting.  A guilty pleasure.  The passion was intense and the characters were crafted so well.  I wasn't a big fan of the epilogue (think Perfect Chemistry), but books can't always be perfect.  While I can def see where this is not the book for some people, I very much enjoyed it and am looking forward to checking out Jamie McGuire's other 2 books.

5 out 5 stars
