Top Ten Tuesday

Top Ten Tuesdays is a bookish meme that highlights your top ten answers to a certain topic! Check out where it all started at The Broke and the Bookish.

Top Ten Books I've Read That Were Outside My Comfort Zone

1.)  Stiff by Mary Roach  - 2 words....Non Fiction.  I despise non-fiction, but at the time I was going through a forensics phase.  Thanks CSI.

2.)  Harry Potter by J.K. Rowling - My first venture into YA/children's literature.  I was also unsure of the whole wizard thing.  This is the series that got me hooked on YA.

3.)  The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins - I had never read any kind of dystopian books before.  I'm also not big on action type novels, but this series is a whole different ballgame.

4.)  Water for Elephants by Sara Gruen - Totally just not my type of book.  I ended up really liking this one though.

5.)  Shiver by Maggie Stiefvater - Honestly, I'm not real big on werewolves.  I never have been and I don't think I ever will be.  However, I really do love this series, as it isn't really a "werewolf" story.

6.)  Firelight by Sophie Jordan - For me, dragons scream high fantasy.  Which, BTW I do not like.  Odd that this book is one of my favorites of 2011.

7.)  The Luxe by Anna Godbersen - I'm not quite sure why Historical Fiction and I do not get along.  I seriously did  not enjoy this one.

8.)  Alas, Babylon by Pat Frank - I had to read this one for school.  This remains the only apocalyptic type story that I have enjoyed.  Loved this book.

9.)  The Good Earth by Pearl S. Buck - I had to read this one for one of my summer school classes.  I remember everyone grumbling when it came time for a daily hour for reading this book, but I couldn't wait for that hour.  Set in another country and historical, and definatley out of my comfort zone.

10.)   One for the Money by Janet Evanovich - Something about this book just wasn't my style.  I had heard so many good things about the series, though, so I wanted to give the first a try.  And then I found books 1-12 on ebay for $10 and free shipping so I gave it a go.  I've only read up to book 8, but these books are so freakin' funny!
