Feature & Follow Friday

Check out this week's Follow Friday at Parajunkee's View and Alison Can Read.

Q. Let's step away from books for a second and get personal. What T-Shirt slogan best describes you?

Being a restaurant manager who DOES help wait tables, this shirt describes me perfectly.  ATTENTION RESTAURANT EATER-OUTERS!  TIP YOUR SERVER!  Most of the times, servers barely make over $4.29/hr (in Florida) and rely on your tips for their livelihood.  And before you say "all they do is bring me my food", YOUR WRONG!  Servers roll the silverwear your eating with, clean your tables (some places), answer phones, pack To-Go orders, sweep, mop, wash stuff, make salads and soups, put away dishes, and alot of times they have to pay a percentage of tips to other staff (such as busboys, hostesses, sushi and hibachi chefs, and bartenders).  So before you think about laying that dollar on the table, remember how much your server actually does. And a friendly reminder:

TIP SCALE

10% of check - Bad service.  No drink refills, never coming to make sure your meal is good.
15% of check - OK service.  A couple of refills and didn't do anything to make your meal enjoyable.
18% of check - Good service.  Always kept drinks refilled and checked to make sure you were doing alright with every refill.  Made small talk with you and your party.
20% of check - Great service.  Went out of their way to make your dining experience more enjoyable.  Routinely offered suggestions and answered questions.  Offered substitution choices and ways for you to save money on your meal.

  1. So true. I always tip 20% or more. I always feel bad for the mess my toddler makes too. Blog Hop & Follow Friday!

  2. New follower! I always tip. Even if the service was horrible. You never know if the server is just having an off day. Everyone needs the money right now!
